Director General of HRDF visits the National Maritime Academy
As part of enhancing strategic partnerships to qualify and empower national competencies in key sectors, His Excellency, the Director General of the Human Resources Development Fund, Mr. Turki bin Abdullah Al Jawuini, visited the headquarters of the National Maritime Academy in Jubail. Captain Turki bin Mohammed Al Shehri, the Executive Director of the Academy, and several other academy leaders received him.
The visit comes as part of HRDF’s efforts to expand cooperation in specialized vocational training and qualification, and to discuss ways to develop strategic partnerships with the Academy, contributing to enhancing the readiness of national cadres to work in the maritime sector. During the tour, His Excellency was briefed on a range of training programs offered by the Academy, including diplomas in Marine Sciences, Marine Engineering, Electrical Technical Officer (ETO) diploma, Marine Engineer on Ships, and a technical diploma in Micro Device Engineering.
The Academy is one of the training entities supported by the Fund under the Strategic Partnerships Institutes Support Program since 2020, with the number of supported trainees reaching 359 to date. A new support agreement was signed in 2024, targeting the training of 570 beneficiaries. So far, 114 training opportunities have been implemented as part of HRDF's efforts to qualify national competencies of both genders in the fields of navigation, maritime services, and logistics.
These efforts come in the context of supporting Saudi Arabia's direction towards becoming a global logistics hub by investing in human capital and enhancing vocational qualifications in promising sectors.
