King Abdullah Center for Petroleum Studies and ResearchOne of the most important factors in determining the extent of benefit from open data is the ability to use it for research purposes. King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center, using open data from the Human Resources Development Fund, published research aimed at determining the extent of the impact of transportation support programs on labor force indicators in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
This study benefited from the use of data from the Wusool Program, which is one of the programs of the Human Resources Development Fund to support transportation for working women. The data contains information about female employees who are registered for arrival and flight information.
At the beginning of the research, a study was conducted on the cases of female registrants in Wusool , and accordingly the educational factor was used as a cut-off point to compare the wages of Saudi women, and to determine a cut-off point for eligibility in the Wusool program, which is the cut-off number that determines the difference ratio between being accepted into the program according to the educational factor and the wage.
It was found that there was a cut-off point for eligibility between those who had a third-level education (diploma or higher) and those who did not, with the former having average wages above 8,000 riyals per month.
In summary, it was concluded that less educated females performed better than educated females in labor force participation, with an average increase of 4.7% for the less educated. It was concluded that supporting and employing less educated Saudi women was important and influential for increasing female participation and empowerment in the labor market.
