Support 374,000 Saudis Employing in the Private Sector During 2023
Director General of the Human Resources Development Fund, Mr. Turki bin Abdullah Al Juwaini, revealed the fund's contribution to supporting the employment of around 374,000 Saudi men and women in the private sector during the past year 2023.
Mr. Al Juwaini, during his participation in the "Meetings of Al-Baha" session on Monday evening, indicated that the total amount disbursed for training, guidance, and empowerment programs provided by the fund during that period amounted to 8.7 billion Saudi riyals. He added that about 1.9 million citizens benefited from the programs and products, along with approximately 120,000 establishments operating in various vital sectors in the Kingdom.
Al Juwaini emphasized the fund's commitment to keeping pace with the developmental advancements witnessed by the Kingdom across all sectors, along with the corresponding changes in the business sector's needs and demand for national workforce skills. He further stated that the fund continuously works on developing and enhancing the skills of Saudi men and women, elevating their participation in the job market, encouraging the private sector to contribute to Saudization efforts, and strengthening partnerships with relevant entities in national workforce training, employment, and empowerment, aiming to enhance their competitiveness and sustainability in the job market.
On his part, Dr. Abdullah bin Yahya Al Hussein, the President of Al-Baha University, affirmed during his participation in the dialogue session that the rapid changes in the job market have compelled universities to continuously improve and develop their programs to keep pace with the evolving labor market needs and required skills. He mentioned that Al-Baha University has introduced new colleges, specialties, and high-quality programs to align its outputs with the labor market's developments, in addition to offering specialized programs and distinctive training in the job market.
Dr. Al Hussein added that empowering universities has contributed to focusing on preparing students during their academic tenure for transition into the job market, noting that the university, in collaboration with the Human Resources Development Fund, has established a center for graduate employment to enhance career guidance for university students and train them for the job market to familiarize them with the required skills and needs of the private sector.
Furthermore, Dr. Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Zahrani, the Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Human Development for Skills and Training, pointed out that global labor markets are undergoing several technological changes, shifts in business models, and work patterns. He stressed that the Ministry has placed skills on the labor market agenda through the Labor Market Strategy, in integration with the efforts of educational institutions and supervisory authorities on labor market sectors.
Al Zahrani mentioned that the Ministry has launched several initiatives focusing on training and skills in the job market, including the establishment of sectoral councils, launching the National Professional Standards Project, the National Skills Framework, the Training Activity Disclosure Policy in private sector facilities, and obliging facilities to engage in cooperative training.
